Los Angeles, CA (July 16, 2026) – This Thursday, July 16, at 11:30 a.m. PT, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honored legendary Regional Mexican group Intocable with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Intocable received the 2,852nd star and was recognized in the Recording category. Located at 7083 Hollywood Boulevard, the band’s star marks a historic milestone in their more than three-decade career, recognizing their extraordinary contributions to Regional Mexican music and their lasting cultural impact on generations of fans.

As the only Regional Mexican act selected for the Hollywood Walk of Fame Class of 2026, this recognition extends beyond the band itself. It celebrates one of the most influential and widely embraced genres in Latin music while honoring the millions of fans and the Latino community whose stories, traditions, and identity have been reflected through Intocable’s music for more than 30 years. The ceremony was streamed live on walkoffame.com.
The ceremony was emceed by Daytime Emmy Award-winning journalist Jessica Maldonado, with music executive and Interscope Capitol Miami President Nir Seroussi, and acclaimed songwriter and producer Edgar Barrera serving as guest speakers. Both reflected on their personal relationships with the band, Intocable’s enduring legacy, and the profound cultural impact the group has had in elevating Regional Mexican music while creating a timeless connection with generations of fans across the United States and beyond.

Nir Seroussi shared: “So 30 years ago, a band like Intocable wasn’t supposed to exist. It was just against the rules. But apparently nobody told them. Back then, Música Mexicana had rules, real rules, lots of rules. You stayed in your lane, you played the instruments the way you were supposed to play them, and God forbid if you colored outside the lines, everybody frowned. Intocable looked at all that, and said, ‘Nah. No, thanks. It’s not for us.’ Ricky took the accordion and made it sound like the future. Ricky, along with René, didn’t just build a legendary career. They also showed the world what Música Mexicana could be. Now, here’s the thing about trailblazers. You can only appreciate them fully in hindsight. Gotta look back and see all those people who follow the path that they created. Today, Música Mexicana is one of the most streamed genres in the world. There are no more boxes. Today’s artists are rock stars, and so many of them are standing on the path that Intocable created.”
Following Seroussi’s remarks, acclaimed songwriter and producer Edgar Barrera took the stage and expressed: “I want you all to know how important you’re to the new generations, how you’ve guided us and opened doors that were once closed. I’m from the border towns of Miguel Alemán and Roma, and they’re from Zapata, two small towns you can barely find on a map. They gave the world one of the greatest bands in Mexican music, and that’s no coincidence. There’s something very special about the Río Grande Valley. I don’t know if it’s the heat, the accordion, or the bajo sexto playing from the neighbor’s house. I grew up listening to Intocable because of my dad, who used to tell me stories about sharing the stage with them on many occasions and watching their success unfold from the very beginning. I don’t know if you know this, but I used to be a rock kid. When I was 15, Intocable released the album Diez, and suddenly I started hearing my favorite rock bands covering their songs, with electric guitars and everything. That’s when I realized something that changed the way I see music forever: a great song belongs in any genre. It doesn’t matter whether you play it with an accordion or through a distorted guitar. If the song is good, it’s good. And that’s exactly what Intocable did. At a time when norteño music was mostly confined to local radio stations, they dared to take it to international stages and declare that it deserved a place in the world. That same courage inspired me to found Border Kid Records, because those of us who grew up on the border know that’s where everything comes together, norteño and pop, English and Spanish. It’s a unique identity. And that blend, that fearless spirit, started with Intocable.”
Accepting the honor on behalf of the band, Ricardo Muñoz reflected on what receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame means after more than three decades of music and dedicated the recognition to the fans and community who have supported Intocable throughout their journey: “Thank you all for being here. I promise you, I’ve had friends and family asking me if I already had my speech prepared. And the answer is no. I wanted to live this moment, and you’ll quickly realize that I didn’t prepare a speech. But I truly am incredibly grateful. First of all, thank You, God, for so many blessings. Thank You for using us as instruments and allowing us to make music through You. To my family, thank you for standing by me all these years. To my bandmates, thank you for standing by me all these years as well. And to our fans: thank you. I’d also like to thank the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for this incredible honor and for having us here today. To everyone who has been part of Intocable in one way or another, whether behind the scenes or as a member of the band, those who are still with us and those who have moved on but left their mark, thank you so much. I also want to thank the songwriters, because they are the most important part of all. Without them sharing their songs and their art with us, none of this would be possible. Everything begins with a song, and I say that from the bottom of my heart. We are forever grateful that you’ve entrusted your work to us. Once again, thank you to all the songwriters.”
During the ceremony, July 16 was officially proclaimed “Intocable Day”.
