Miami, FL. (July 21, 2023) – There are collaborations that are legendary, and, without a doubt, this is one of them. The 20th edition of the Premios Juventud witnessed a historic moment when Venezuelan salsa artist Jonathan Moly teamed up with legendary US rock band Hoobastank to light up the stage with the Latin version of the rock classic “The Reason”, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The Premios Juventud awards took place this past Thursday, July 20 from the Coliseo de Puerto Rico.
With this iconic performance, Hoobastank vocalist Doug Robb and guitarist Dan Estrin joined Moly in one of the highlights of the night as they paid homage to the enduring popularity of the global hit “The Reason,” which topped Billboard’s Hot 100 chart when it debuted in 2003. Throughout the set, Moly‘s salsa was masterfully fused with Hoobastank‘s classic rock through a guitar solo performed by Dan. This invoked an immense amount of euphoria in the crowd, which proved that music has no barriers and always finds ways to unite people. Without a doubt, it was a stellar and historic performance that was characterized by its unstoppable energy and fusion of styles.
This one-of-a-kind musical collaboration, with musical arrangements produced by Jonathan Moly himself, innovatively fuses the rock and salsa genres into a vibrant Latin version of “The Reason”. This year “The Reason” celebrates its 20th anniversary, so Moly transformed the track in a fresh way to attract new generations without losing its essence and feeling. The track is also featured on the Venezuelan artists’ new album “Metamorfosis”.
