Miami, FL. (May 25, 2023) – Carlos Vives, Colombian music icon, releases the official music video for “El Carro Ford,” the focus track off his most recent album, Escalona: Nunca Se Había Grabado Así, which narrates a mans desire to buy a car that allows him to carry out his life’s plan. The project kicked off the celebration of his 30-year long music career in 2023. The visual, which was conceptualized by Vives, shows a perfect analogy between the most representative and iconic moments of Carlos Vives‘ artistic career over the past 3 decades and the evolution of the blue oval cars, over the years.
The music video, which has an industrial rock atmosphere, gives a contemporary twist to the revisited classics that defined Colombian music. The visual also has a special appearance by Vives’ youngest son Pedro Vives, who is seen playing the drums, as well as Ford cards, including: the classic F-150, the Bronco, the 50 Year Special Edition Mustang and the new F-150 full hybrid. The video was directed by Sergio I. Rodríguez and Carlos Felipe Montoya in Bogotá for Mestiza Films.
After the success achieved by previous album singles “La Historia” and “Mala Suerte”, “El Carro Ford” hit #1 on the Tropical Chart in Colombia and #2 on the General Chart, which shows the countries attraction to their classics, with a modern twist by Vives, using the sound that Carlos Vives created and called El Rock de mi Pueblo.
With the release of the video, we continue an emotional year full of celebrations and festivities that will evoke nostalgia for the last 3 decades of Colombia’s greatest icon, Carlos Vives.
