Miami, FL (September 4, 2026) – Enrollment is open and the semester has officially begun. Wisin, one of the key figures in the history and evolution of Latin urban music, releases La Universidad del Perreo today, a new album that returns to the roots of the underground reggaetón movement born in Puerto Rico and pays tribute to the sounds, artists, and codes that laid the foundation for a movement that would later conquer the world.
Taking on his role as dean of La Universidad del Perreo, Wisin turns the project into a masterclass on the history and evolution of the genre, recruiting as professors several of the figures who helped build its legacy. Puerto Rican artists Ivy Queen, Don Chezina, Jowell & Randy, Jory Boy, Franco “El Gorila,” Trébol Clan, and Juanka El Problematik, along with Mexico’s El Bogueto, make up the album’s musical faculty, bringing their distinctive styles and experiences to a production conceived to preserve the essence of perreo while carrying it into the present.
The new generation also has a place at this institution. Colombian artist Kapo arrives at La Universidad del Perreo as its graduate, representing a generation influenced by those who built the genre and that is now continuing to write its history. His collaboration with Wisin on “Muévelo Pa’ Mí” creates a bridge between reggaetón’s legacy and the new voices driving the genre today.

Across 12 tracks, La Universidad del Perreo takes listeners on a journey through reggaetón’s sonic identity, recovering elements of Puerto Rico’s underground sound and reinterpreting them through the perspective of one of the artists who helped transform it into a global phenomenon. The album opens with “Profesor Sandunga,” an introduction in which Dean Wisin welcomes students to La Universidad del Perreo, and continues with tracks including “Te Guayo,” “Yakéame,” and “Pa’ Bailarlo Así,” along with a series of collaborations that serve as true masterclasses in the genre.
Among them are “Rewind Selecta” with Don Chezina; “El Espejo” with Jory Boy; “Hasta Abajo” with Ivy Queen; “Bounce” with Jowell & Randy; “Mi Baby” with El Bogueto; “En Alta” with Franco “El Gorila” and Trébol Clan; and “Underground,” which brings together Don Chezina and Juanka El Problematik. Each collaboration offers a different lesson within a curriculum built around rhythm, history, and the evolution of the urban music movement.
But La Universidad del Perreo does not end with the release of the album. What initially appeared as a mysterious invitation to enroll in a university has grown into a community of more than 2 million enrolled students. The concept will continue to expand through courses, projects, and experiences that will allow members to participate in a variety of activities, earn official certificates, and gain access to events and opportunities reserved exclusively for members of the community.
With La Universidad del Perreo, Wisin not only revisits the sound that defined his beginnings, but also celebrates Puerto Rico’s contribution as the birthplace of reggaetón and recognizes those who taught the first lessons of a genre that rose from the underground to become one of the world’s most influential cultural movements.
After more than two decades helping write that history, the dean returns to the classroom. This time, he is joined by his professors, a new graduate, and more than 2 million students ready to begin the semester.
