Miami, FL (January 26, 2026) — Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), a leading music publisher, today announced the appointment of Catalina Santa Peña as Managing Director of Universal Music Publishing Mexico, effective immediately.

In her new role, Santa Peña will oversee publishing operations in the territory, driving creative strategy, songwriter development, and business growth while enhancing UMPG’s stature in one of the world’s most influential Latin music markets.

Santa Peña previously held positions at Warner Chappell, Sony Music, SAYCO (Colombia’s performing rights organization), Colombia’s Ministry of Culture, and the National Copyright Office (DNDA), building a deep understanding of copyright law, public policy, and music publishing operations.
In 2019, she founded The Artist’s Attorney (ATTY), a company that is now recognized as one of Latin America’s leading entertainment law firms, with operations across the United States, Mexico, and Colombia. During her time with ATTY, the firm represented some of the most influential artists in global Latin music, including Karol G, J Balvin, Sky Rompiendo, Aterciopelados, Nanpa Básico, Ella Taubert, SOG, and Piso 21, among others.
In addition to her legal and executive work, Santa Peña is the author of Industria Musical Para Artistas, Music Business Para Todos, published in 2020, a widely referenced guide that demystifies the music industry, copyright revenue streams, and the ecosystem surrounding artists and creators.
Santa Peña has also become a respected educator and speaker, traveling extensively across Colombia and Latin America to train artists, students, and professionals on copyright and entertainment law—reinforcing her commitment to creator advocacy and sustainable industry growth. In recognition of her impact on the industry, Santa Peña was recently named to the Billboard 2025 Latin Women in Music list.
