“Receiving the Billboard Hall of Fame Award is one of the greatest honors of my career. This award is not only for me, it’s for merengue, for Puerto Rico, and for every fan who has danced and celebrated life with my music. To share this moment on the Billboard Latin Music Awards stage is truly unforgettable,” said Elvis Crespo.
The Billboard Hall of Fame Award celebrates a career that extends beyond musical performance and takes into account the incredible influence the recipient enjoys as an artist globally in multiple fields. The award is reserved for artists who have achieved worldwide recognition for their work, transcending musical genres and languages. Previous winners of the coveted award include José José, Vicente Fernández, Rocío Durcal, Marco Antonio Solís, Joan Sebastian, and Marc Anthony, among others.
Elvis Crespo’s music has defined and redefined merengue for nearly three decades. His global smash “Suavemente” became a cultural phenomenon, topping Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart and breaking records as one of the most-streamed Latin songs worldwide. The track continues to thrive in films, global ad campaigns, and viral social media moments, embraced by stars such as Bad Bunny, Karol G, Dua Lipa, and even Hollywood legends like Anthony Hopkins.
In addition to his iconic classics “Suavemente” and “Tu Sonrisa,” Elvis Crespo has successfully bridged genres with crossover hits like “Azukita” alongside Steve Aoki, Daddy Yankee, and Play-N-Skillz, and “Bailar” with Deorro. These collaborations took his merengue to global electronic music festivals, including Tomorrowland, Ultra, and Coachella, marking the first time a Latin artist appeared at the festivals. Both tracks became international anthems and placed Crespo on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic charts, underscoring his cross-generational and cross-genre appeal.
With his new album, Poeta Herío, Elvis Crespo opens a bold and deeply personal chapter in his career. The album has resonated across the United States, Latin America, Spain, and the Caribbean, showcasing his unmistakable style, vibrant rhythms, and collaborations that united generations of artists, including Arcángel, Ebenezer Guerra, El Blachy, Fariana, Ivy Queen, Jerry Rivera, La Insuperable, Luck-Ra, Oscarito, Toño Rosario, and Víctor Manuelle.
Celebrating his return to the top of the radio charts in both the U.S. and the Dominican Republic, Crespo’s collaborations, including “Nuestra Canción”, “Luna Llena” with Ebenezer Guerra, “Cora Roto” with Arcángel, and “Me Mataron” with El Blachy, highlight his continued relevance and innovation in Latin music. Currently, the GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® Award-winning artist is connecting directly with fans through his “Bodega Tour 2025: El Barrio Canta,” a surprise tour that visits iconic bodegas and neighborhood grocery stores in Puerto Rico and the United States. The tour celebrates authenticity, community, and the everyday culture of Latino neighborhoods, reaffirming Crespo’s role not just as a music icon but as a cultural ambassador.
Beyond the stage, Elvis Crespo’s impact extends into global culture. His sound has powered campaigns for brands like Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, T-Mobile, Target, and Huggies. His music has been featured in Hollywood films, Super Bowl commercials, and viral social media moments, solidifying his role as a cultural staple.
It is this unparalleled reach and influence, transcending music, culture, and generations, that the Billboard Latin Music Awards will honor with the Billboard Hall of Fame Award.
