Miami, FL (August 28, 2025) – The unforgettable singer, entrepreneur, and influential figure in Latin music, Jenni Rivera, will receive a posthumous recognition as she is officially inducted into the prestigious Long Beach City College (LBCC) Hall of Fame. The 53rd annual induction ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at The Grand Long Beach.
Jenni Rivera, one of the most influential voices in regional Mexican music, born and raised in Long Beach, will be honored for her extraordinary achievements in entertainment, as well as her lasting impact as an activist, businesswoman, and role model for the Latino community in the United States and beyond.
The recognition will be accepted by her daughter, Jacqie Rivera, who currently serves as CEO of Jenni Rivera Enterprises. Together with her siblings, Jacqie continues to carry on her mother’s legacy, leading the brand and preserving the cultural and emotional impact Jenni left on millions of fans around the world. “My mom was always a determined and dream-driven woman. College was an important part of her beginnings — a place where she believed anything was possible,” said Jacqie Rivera. “Receiving this recognition in her honor is a reminder that her story continues to inspire many to keep pursuing their dreams, no matter where they come from.”
This well-deserved honor is part of the annual event organized by the Long Beach City College Foundation, which celebrates distinguished people who have made significant contributions to their respective fields. Founded in 1972 by the Associated Student Body Cabinet, the Hall of Fame has served as a platform to recognize exceptional alumni. With the induction of the 2024 honorees, the total number of members stands at 198 outstanding individuals, many of whom have achieved national and international recognition.
This recognition celebrates not only Jenni Rivera’s artistic success but also her perseverance, entrepreneurial spirit, and the lasting impact she made on the music industry and the Latino community.
LBCC Superintendent-President Dr. Mike Muñoz shared his thoughts on the induction: “Long Beach City College is deeply honored to welcome Jenni Rivera into our Hall of Fame. Jenni’s music, her courage, and her unyielding voice for women and the Latinx community continue to inspire generations. She showed us what it means to rise above challenges, to stay true to our roots, and to use success as a platform to uplift others. Jenni stands as a powerful role model for our students, faculty, and the entire LBCC community, and her legacy reminds us that our voices matter, our stories matter, and our dreams can change the world. Que su voz siga guiando a nuestra comunidad con fuerza, esperanza y orgullo.”
The ceremony will also honor distinguished alumni who have made an impact in their fields. Among this year’s inductees, Jenni Rivera’s posthumous induction stands out as a deeply emotional and symbolic moment, highlighting her unique journey, cultural influence, and unbreakable bond with the community where her story began.

About Long Beach City College Alumni Hall of Fame
The Long Beach City College Alumni Hall of Fame was originally created by the Associated Student Body Cabinet as a way to honor former students who have excelled in their chosen professions after leaving the College. The first induction ceremony took place on campus in 1972 and was a small affair that inducted three worthy individuals. Every year since then another class of three to five outstanding individuals has been added. The ceremony has evolved from a small gathering hosted by the ASB Cabinet to a large off-campus affair hosted by the Long Beach City College Foundation that can appropriately honor the inductees and accommodate the large number of individuals who want to celebrate their achievements.
With the induction of the 2024 honorees, the total number of Hall of Fame members stands at 198 outstanding individuals. All those inducted create an outstanding list of individuals who are not only well known locally, but in many cases nationally and internationally. They not only serve as role models to inspire current students but also represent the value of the wonderful education one can receive at the College.
