“Track Loading” from his Acclaimed Eight Studio Album GIRASOLES is replaced with “Mejor Que Tú”, an emotional and heart-warming tribute to his Mother
Miami, FL. (May 9, 2025) – With an album that reflected a year-long journey of rebirth, transformation, and growth, Jay Wheeler released today a heartfelt tribute to one of the most important women of his life – his mother. A hidden track on his eighth studio album GIRASOLES, tentatively titled “Track Loading”, has now been replaced with “Mejor Que Tú”, a track that honors the dedication, guidance, and perseverance of the woman who inspired him to become the man he is today.
Penned by Jay Wheeler and Jonathan Vazquez (Radikal), “Mejor Que Tú” is one of three special and unique tracks on this album. Just in time for Mother’s Day, the music video was recently shot in Miami, FL, and was directed by Jose Sagaro/FilmHeads. The video is a visual narrative that shows Jay as a baby, sharing tender moments with his mom; to a teenage boy showing his natural closeness and bond with his mom, and ends with a full circle moment where he reflects on what she’s meant to him. The video culminates with a tender moment where mother and son reunite, creating a special “thank you” moment and homage to all mothers.
About the emotional track, Jay Wheeler expressed, “Mejor Que Tú” is personally one of three very special tracks on this album. It’s a very special song dedicated to my mom. To me, my mom has always been a true warrior and someone whom I’ve always admired. Although I admire many members of my family, I feel that my mom represents what I am today – – the strength, values, and the love I possess and project today, is because of her.”
“Mejor Que Tú” is featured in the moving and renewed 15-track album representing Jay Wheeler’s year-long journey in three stages: difficulties faced in life (planting a seed), transformation (growth), and maturity (full bloom). Released under Dynamic Records/EMPIRE, GIRASOLES debuted in Spotify’s Top Albums Debut Global chart with three songs trending on PR YouTube charts, simultaneously. As Wheeler’s album continues to resonate with fans worldwide, “Una Como Tu”, “No Se Que Me Queda” (NSQMQ) and “Abrazame Fuerte” have become fan anthems. However, it’s been “Nota”, featuring urban rising star Omar Courtz, that continues to rise on charts, securing 28 million streams worldwide and nearing 5 million YouTube views.
