Miami, FL (April 12, 2024) – The rising Venezuelan starlet Barbara Doza has released her highly-anticipated debut EP Malandra, officially making her mark in the industry. The EP consists of 6 tracks, including the pre-released “Papi,” “Japon,” and the chart-topping track “Get Down” featuring Rawayana, which reached the Top 5 on Venezuela’s Top 100 – Record Report.
The title of the EP, Malandra pulses with the same electrifying energy that can be found in its tracks. When speaking on why she chose Malandra as the title, Barbara stated: “‘Malandra’ is a lifestyle…This word represents a lot of the culture where I come from. We use this term in a positive way, highlighting the strength and determination of women who have overcome difficult circumstances in life; a soul who has experienced darkness and turned it into light transforming the bad into something positive. A ‘Malandra’ lives life without fear… she is a boss, she is power, she is bravery, resilience, evolution and attitude.”
The EP is characterized by Barbara’s diverse wide-range of sounds, showcasing her musical versatility while also staying true to her unique and distinct style. Tracks like “Delito” and “Japon” transport listeners to the vibrant realm of dance-pop, with infusions of nostalgic 80s disco vibes. In “Papi” and “Lloro,” Barbara weaves together influences from Reggae, Afro-Beats, and Hip Hop, while also showcasing her exceptional rap skills. Collaborations on the album highlight Barbara’s adaptability, from the rock and alternative-inspired sounds of “Normale” featuring ALOISIO, to the infectious tropical pop anthem of “Get Down” featuring Rawayana.
Barbara collaborated with an array of influential producers and songwriters on the project, including the GRAMMY® award-winning producer YetiBeats, who is widely regarded for his work with Doja Cat. YetiBeats production and songwriting is present on every single track on the EP, showcasing his dedication to Barbara’s sound and creative direction as a prominent rising Latina artist in the industry. Other notable producers on the EP include Carter Lang, Andrés Story, Kurtis Mackenzie, Rogét Chahayed, Anthony Singer, and JAE5.
With the release of Malandra, Barbara Doza is making her mark as the Rising Queen of Venezuela, and as “Get Down” featuring Rawayana continues to show success across the globe, it is clear to see that this is only the beginning of Barbara’s meteoric rise to stardom.
