Miami, FL. (April 26, 2022) – Global music icon Carlos Vives is ready to embark on a new musical journey with “Cumbiana II” and he releases his new song and video “Solo” as a small preview of what’s to come. In the song, Vives experiments with typical sounds of the Sierra Nevada and includes a mixture of joyful rhythms that invite you to dance. Released under Sony Music Latin, “Solo” is now available on all digital platforms. Written by Carlos Vives, and produced by Carlos Vives, Andrés Leal and Martin Velilla, “Solo” is a song about ‘heartbreak’. The song details the aftermath of a painful breakup where the person ultimately decides to be ‘alone’. “This song is a ‘tusa’ (of heartbreak) but it was also an experimentation with instruments such as the bagpipes and the typical sound of the Sierra Nevada. With this song, as you can expect from the album, it is a journey through different genres in which our culture is connected”, said Carlos Vives. Directed by Sergio Rodriguez and Carlos Andres Valencia for Mestiza Films, the music video was filmed in Santa Marta which begins with visuals of musicians from La Provincia playing wind instruments, drums, among others. The music video is accompanied by the lyrics of the song, where the main character is shown suffering from a heartbreak and decides to leave, with images of him and Vives walking through the desert.
