Miami, FL (August 27, 2026) – Through a series of WhatsApp voice messages shared on social media by Wisin, dean of La Universidad del Perreo, it was revealed that Ivy Queen is the first professor recruited to teach at the institution.
With the announcement, “La Caballota” is confirmed as the first featured artist on Wisin’s new album, La Universidad del Perreo, set for release on September 3. The album returns to the roots of the underground reggaetón movement born in Puerto Rico that would later go on to conquer the world.
“I’m working on the La Universidad del Perreo project. There definitely couldn’t be a Universidad del Perreo without ‘La Caballota,’ without the Queen, the woman who opened the doors for all the women who are doing great things today. It wouldn’t make sense without you, so I want to invite you to be part of this great project, La Universidad del Perreo,” Wisin said.
Ivy Queen enthusiastically responded: “Thank you so much for your words, brother, and especially for thinking of me for something that is obviously part of our history. You know that when we talk about perreo, when we talk about reggaetón and everything it took to pave the way back then, I have the scars, the miles, and the chapters written. I’m interested in sitting down with you and hearing the vision. If we’re going to talk about La Universidad del Perreo, let’s do it the way it’s supposed to be done: with flow, with street credibility, with substance, and with respect for every single person who laid a brick. I’m motivated now!”
So, it’s official: Professor Ivy Queen has accepted Dean Wisin’s invitation and will begin teaching at La Universidad del Perreo on September 3.
