Miami, FL (April 24, 2026) – Mexican singer-songwriter Gloria Trevi received the Lifetime Achievement Award (Premio Trayectoria Artística) on Thursday night during the fourth annual Billboard Latin Women in Music celebration, held in Miami.
After accepting the recognition from Chiquis Rivera, the artist delivered a powerful speech: “First of all, I want to thank God, who has given me everything! A family to fight for, fans and friends who, through their actions, have made me feel that I am not alone in these times, which are so strange. Times of misinformation that promote hate, that promote wars, separation, and division, and where what is most seen on social media are sensationalist rumors. People no longer know what is true or what is AI (artificial intelligence).”
“Women who fight are often attacked by other women, and that is a reflection of what is happening in the world, because women are the hand that rocks the cradle. It is our responsibility to instill love. But people give opinions, debate, mock, and fight, and in the end they feel a void of hopelessness, because having negative feelings, criticizing, and hating does more harm to the person who feels it than to the person who receives it. Don’t fall into that trap! Wish the best for others, let’s raise our vibration! Do it for yourselves, because if you are well, the whole world will be better,” added the honoree. “A smile can change and can save a life,” she concluded.
Gloria Trevi also performed the song “No Estás Sola” on television for the first time.
The music video for the single included on Trevi’s latest album, “El Vuelo,” also premiered on Thursday night.
The two-hour musical special celebrated Latina artists who are driving positive change and advocating for inclusion in the music industry.
This recognition came after the “Pelo Suelto” and “Con Los Ojos Cerrados” singer made history on February 28 with “Live Celebration,” a sold-out concert at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, where she celebrated her nearly four-decade career and paid tribute to Mexican culture.
When Gloria Trevi burst onto the stages of her country in the late 1980s and later conquered Latin America, she marked a turning point for Hispanic female artists. While the industry expected female singers to present themselves with a flawless image and a submissive attitude, La Trevi was the complete opposite: aggressive, rebellious, and outspoken. With her wild attitude, torn stockings, and messy hair, she took the stage to challenge the taboos of the conservative society of the time.
In 2006, the artist released the classic “Todos Me Miran,” which became an anthem for the LGBTQ+ community, and in 2022 it was named by Billboard as one of the best Latin songs of all time. Her achievements continued, and in 2018, Trevi was inducted into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame (LSHOF).
In 2025, Trevi released her most recent album, “El Vuelo,” featuring popular singles “Q.E.P.D.” and “Cueste Lo Que Cueste,” as well as emotional tracks dedicated to her loved ones, such as “Un Abrazo” and “Arrúllame.”
In recent years, Gloria Trevi has remained one of the highest-grossing Latin artists in the world. According to Pollstar magazine in 2024, the Mexican singer ranked among the women with the highest global concert ticket sales.
