“The granddaughter of Pedro Infante is making a name for herself in Música Mexicana and also blazing a trail for women in the male-dominated scene” – Rolling Stone
Miami, FL (September 17, 2025) – Lupita Infante has been nominated for “Best Regional Song” at the 26th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards, standing out as the only female artist in the category. The two-time GRAMMY® nominee and granddaughter of the legendary Pedro Infante continues to honor her family’s legacy while carving out her own space in music history. This marks her second career Latin GRAMMY® nomination, following her 2020 nod for “Dejaré” in the same category, further establishing her as one of the most powerful and promising voices in Regional Mexican music today.
The nominated track was born out of a collaborative session at Spotify’s Los Angeles offices, where Lupita joined forces with a group of acclaimed songwriters, producers, and artists who are shaping today’s sound in Regional Mexican music. The session included Mauro Muñoz (widely recognized for his work with Reik, Carin León, and Kenia OS), Agua Tinta, and Fernandita Díaz, bringing together an impressive blend of perspectives and creative energy.
When reflecting on the nomination and the importance of how “Seguimos o No?” came to be, Lupita Infante shared:
“I am truly honored to be nominated for Best Regional Mexican Song! This track was born during a Spotify songwriting camp alongside three incredible collaborators: Fernanda Díaz, Agua Tinta, and our dear Mauro Muñoz. This nomination is living proof of the positive impact that songwriting camps, especially those that uplift women, can have on us as artists and on the industry as a whole. I am so proud of my colleagues and deeply grateful for the opportunity to create together. Today, we celebrate this triumph with joy, gratitude, and a hopeful outlook for the future of women in our beautiful Mexican music genre.”
Musically, the song pays homage to Lupita’s deep roots in mariachi while also embracing a contemporary edge. Built on a traditional mariachi base, it weaves in modern pop influences and innovative arrangements, reflecting the evolving landscape of the genre while staying true to its cultural essence. This balance between tradition and modernity mirrors Lupita’s own journey as an artist, carrying forward the Infante legacy into a new era.
Being the granddaughter of the legendary Pedro Infante, Lupita has become a cherished figure in Mexican communities worldwide, carrying forward a family legacy that has shaped generations with its cultural significance.
The Latin GRAMMY®-nominated track “Seguimos o No” is part of Lupita’s third studio album, “La Corona es Mia,” which was released this past May, a project that solidified her position as a leading voice in Música Mexicana. The 10-track album stays true to her roots while incorporating elements of pop, resulting in a timeless and sophisticated body of work. Listen to the album HERE.
